Brydon Coverdale is a journalist, author, presenter and quiz expert who since 2015 has appeared on The Chase Australia as ‘The Shark’, one of the chasers contestants must beat in order to win prize money.

Before The Chase, Brydon was a serial game-show contestant, winning prizes from cash to car-care products to a kitschy clock in the shape of a pineapple.

He also writes the Shark Quiz, a daily 20-question trivia game that appears in newspapers around Australia including The Daily Telegraph, Herald Sun, The Courier-Mail and The Advertiser. You can find the Shark Quiz here.

His first book was The Quiz Masters, a non-fiction work about the world of trivia and game shows, published by Allen & Unwin in 2022. You can buy it here.

He also writes fiction and won the 2024 Australian Crime Writers Association’s Louie Award for Fast Fiction, for stories of less than 500 words. You can read Brydon’s winning entry here. He is currently working on his first crime novel.

Brydon previously worked as a cricket journalist from 2006-2018, travelling the globe reporting on the Australian team for ESPN.
